What:
I’ve decided that this year (in 2008) I would start a project to write and record a song per week for the first ten weeks and post it here on the site. I’m using I used self-imposed limitations for the experiment so that I don’t didn’t get carried away. With the seemingly endless possibilities of crap to get in the way of just sitting down and writing a song completely improv, I wanted to make a project out of doing just that. Everything that will be is posted here will be is completely off-the-cuff and recorded when I find found the time. Between recording my album Semiotics, a full time job (linux engineer), wife (amy), son (daniel), dog (layla) and taking care of 5 acres of land and new house, time is a precious commodity.
The Process:
Sit down in a tiny room, when time is available, and write/record a song.
The Self-Imposed Limitations:
Write and record one song/snippet of music per week, using only a laptop, shareware/freeware software (ardour, reaper and vst plugins), one microphone (audix i5), and any instruments found in the tiny room. The song or piece of music should be under two minutes and thirty seconds long and mixed in said tiny room on headphones.
Do you want to use any of the music here in a podcast, remix/mashup? Check out the FAQ regarding using my music. The short of it, you can, but check the link for details.
