FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTING REGARDING THE USE OF MY MUSIC

CAN I USE YOUR MUSIC IN MY PODCAST?

Creative Commons LicenseYes, please do. Absolutely! All of the audio files on tateeskew.com can be used in your podcast. You are free to include them in your podcast or internet radio show as long as you follow the terms set in the Creative Commons License linked here.

It would be really great if you send me a link to your podcast so I can listen and post the link to your podcast on my site.

WHAT DOES THE CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE ALLOW ME TO DO?

A quick and dirty summary of the rules:

  • No Commercial Use – Please people, don’t use my songs to make money without asking first. Take a look at the commercial licensing question/statement below.
  • Provide attribution – A link to this website and verbal recognition of either me or this site during the podcast will do just fine.
  • Share alike! – All remixes/mashups must be released under the same Creative Commons license.

The license provides no warranty of any kind. So exercise caution. Please read the license summary completely before you begin using the songs.

The license applies only to songs I’ve written and/or own the copyright to. It does not apply to audio files at other sites that I link to. You know, like other artists and their good music.

In addition, please contact me first if you’d like to use my music in any project with a political or social slant. Especially if it involves the dangers of small people riding motorcycles at night through a line of whiskey bottles that happen to be owned by Pat Boone.

CAN I SHARE THE MUSIC FILES ON THIS SITE?

Yes. Absolutely. You’re free to distribute my songs on your favorite P2P system (piratebay, stmusic, waffles, etc). Please don’t remove or change the ID3 tags on the files, as they contain links to my website and they are nice and tidy. Also, this doesn’t mean I don’t like MONEY! Go donate some dough if you feel guilty!

WHAT ABOUT MY STUDENT FILM? CAN I USE YOUR MUSIC THERE AS WELL?

Yes. As long as the rules of the Creative Commons license above are followed. Note: If you get lucky and land a big-money distribution deal, please contact me about commercial licensing and the like.

DO YOU DO COMMERCIAL LICENSING?

Hey, I’m glad you asked! If you’re interested in using a song in a commercial work (TV, professional film, advertisements, for-profit broadcasting), please contact me and we’ll work something out. Preferably lots of money to buy more recording gear with. Oh, and feed my family.
